Jason Wingreen, who voiced the cult anti-hero Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett, has died at the age of 95. The actor passed away on December 25 at his home in Los Angeles.
In addition to his role in Star Wars: Episode V -- The Empire Strikes Back, Wingreen starred in the classic American sitcoms All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place. He also appeared in a handful of episodes of The Twilight Zone and Seinfeld, as well as several other TV shows and films over the span of his long career.
Interestingly enough, the Boba Fett voice actor originally auditioned for the role of Yoda, but was instead offered four lines of dialogue for a bounty hunter that would go on to become one of Star Wars' most popular characters.
"I think the actual work, aside from the hellos and goodbyes and all that, could have been no more than 10 minutes," Wingreen said of the role, for which he received nil credit or residuals.
